This blog is for those of us concerned about the future of the historical Presidio of San Francisco as it is consumed by private interests. What is happening? What can be done?

HR 6305
"Pelosi introduces "technical" amendments to the Presidio Trust Act in H.R. 6305 that deceptively increase the Trust's independence from oversight by the Park Service or Department of the Interior. PHA and the National Parks Conservation Association are working to preserve NPS involvement in bringing the Presidio back to National Park standards."
In coffee shop talk, what does this mean?
GAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDD.
What happened to our motor pool building? There's a funny hat on top!

Here is a response for recent comments:
The Trust sneaked in a provision on a bill in Pelosi's office that would have removed Park Service control over public programs - perhaps even art museums-in the Presidio, a national park. The Trust could do anything it liked. When we pointed it out, Pelosi's people did not understand what the sneak "correction" meant. Now, we believe that the Trust "correction" will not be in the bill- but anything can happen in Congress when you have 3.3 billion dollars, as the art museum's "donor" has.
What's on top of the "motor pool?" I haven't a clue. Maybe the roof leaks!!!
The officially designated "Federal Preservation Officer," a former National Park Service Employee with years of experience applying preservation law and regulations, resigned after his paper reporting the effects of the Trust proposals was returned by Trust senior staff and lawyers 16 times because he was too honest in describing the adverse effects of the art museum, hotel, and other proposals.
